“Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel” – Socrates
The aim of education at Gurukul World School is to nurture responsible, aware and physically agile children who are at home in the globalized world of today and the future, yet have imbibed our grand old Indian culture and traditions. Children are encouraged to think and question and thus gain knowledge through experience. We believe that every moment spent in school is a learning experience for students and as facilitators it is our duty to provide to them a variety of enriching and enjoyable learning opportunities throughout the day. Books and curriculum should support learning and not be the only form of learning, only then will we be able to nurture and raise truly educated individuals and not mere literates. Curriculum in primary classes allows for individual variations in the pace of learning, based upon the expectation that a child will grasp a concept or achieve a skill when he or she is ready. Cooperation takes priority over competition. The aim is to nurture curiosity, imagination, and creativity.
It is not only academics that we emphasize on; equal emphasis is given to character building and an attitude for perfection. We work at sparking the interest of children and arousing their curiosity.
The syllabi is taken up through a variety of means like smart classrooms, critical challenges, play-acting, visits, presentations, group discussions, projects, activities, songs and poems and this not only engages the students but also leads to deeper understanding and development of life skills. The system of education is thus an integrated one. Emphasis is also laid on sports and other co-curricular activities through which the spirit of healthy competition and true sportsmanship is imbibed in the character of the students.
The motto of our school, ‘Where tomorrow begins’ motivates our students to aspire for greatness and glory because, “If you can dream it (in the present), you can do it (in the future)”
